classical guitars built to meet the needs of professional players.
Michael Edgeworth is a talented English luthier, building classical guitars. The design of his guitars are a natural progression of the fine traditions established by renowned English makers like Paul Fischer and David Rubio. They are traditionally built, offering a wide palette of tone colours, strong trebles and projection. Performers can be confident that precisely their intended interpretation of the music will be heard by the audience. The Edgeworth classical guitar philosophy is one of forever improving and refining the instruments.
The Edgeworth guitar workshop recently relocated to Bloomsbury in London, ideally placed within reach of the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music, Trinity Laban conservatoire and Guildhall School of Music. Michael is looking forward to gaining many insights from collaborating with the students, teachers and professional classical guitar players who are part of the vibrant London classical music scene.
Michael offers classical guitar setups from his workshop in Bloomsbury. Repairs are taken at discretion.

Expertise:
Having spent years seeking feedback from the best classical guitar players, dealers and guitars makers in England and Spain - learning what the modern classical guitarist requires - Michael has developed the Praemordia model to fulfil the practical and aesthetic requirements of the today’s classical guitarist. They are aimed at professional players, and so classical guitarists of every level should feel unfettered on Michael Edgeworth instruments.
Value:
Although Edgeworth guitars seemingly fall into the typical price bracket for handmade instruments, there are several offers/schemes which make them particularly good value. Such as my 20% discount for conservatoire students and under 18s. As well as a scheme to equip Edgeworth guitars with Rodgers tuners, and the finest hardcases.
A taste of England:
The design of the Praemordia model is inspired by instruments built in England going back centuries. The sound informed by the most talented guitarists, makers and dealers around the country. The rosette is inspired by a lost 18th century English craft that Michael is fascinated by.
About
Michael Edgeworth is a classical guitar maker. He built his first classical guitar when he was 16, and has been devoted towards classical guitar making ever since. He is very inspired by the English school of guitar making stemming from David Rubio.
Having taken every opportunity to refine every element of his classical guitars - most importantly the sound - Michael Edgeworth’s instruments are unique, special and distinct.
“What is an excellent classical guitar and how can I build one?”
Michael devoted his whole twenties to answering this question, a decade-long journey which led him to mastering traditional classical guitar building techniques, developing exciting ideas on classical guitar design and ultimately his newest model, The Praemordia.
an exciting 2025
In early 2025, the Edgeworth workshop relocated to Bloomsbury, in central London. As well as refining the Praemordia model guitar, Michael looks forward to welcoming many classical guitarists to the workshop - offering classical guitar setups - and being a part of the classical guitar scene in London.
Michael has developed his craft by listening to the thoughts and feedback of classical guitar players, makers and dealers. With the establishment of his new workshop in Bloomsbury, Michael is looking forward to collaborating with the London guitarists; the teachers, students, dealers, music theorists, composers, historians; to learn and share knowledge with the aim of further improving the guitars.

A Classical Guitar Maker
Michael started this blog, A Classical Guitar Maker, five years ago for guitarists to read about classical guitar-related topics from the perspective of a luthier. Classical guitar players and makers tread a parallel path in their pursuit of great musical heights. Having learned a great deal from interviews and podcasts featuring classical guitarists, he hopes that his perspective can be similarly helpful.
So far Michael has covered topics such as the development of my concert classical guitar, the different guitar finishes - French polish, oil, and lacquer. Some of his recent activities have included building a guitar in collaboration guitar with two other English luthiers, and displaying work at classical music festivals such as Brno International Classical Guitar Festival and West Dean classical guitar festival. There is an endless array of topics to discuss regarding handmade classical guitars.
